The Guild plus IFightDragons: four videos and a podcast!

Sometimes the Internet is like a bus...
You wait for ages then four great videos arrive at once! Oh, wait - that's not really like a bus, is it? Unless it's a geek bus...Anyway! This morning on Twitter (I happening to have it open, it's not like I was looking to be distracted - stop judging me!) there was a series of wonderful events, the upshot of which was the watching of four new videos.

New 'Behind the Scenes' videos from The Guild Season 2
@geekyfanboy tweeted this morning that there were two new videos out: 'Meet the Characters' and 'Meet the Extras'. And he should know since he since he edited the 'Meet the Extras' video! They are available from MSN video and Xbox marketplace. Or you could watch them from here:

Both are excellent and the 'Extras' video hosts a plethora of familiar names whom you can follow on Twitter: @Crixlee @DerekHousman @ZackFinfrock @Ryon_D @BrettRegister@lawrencedenes @egspoony @Hygena @nikhaiku

A new Guild Fan Vid!
And then Kenny (@geekyfanboy) did it again and linked to a new Fan Vid by Jared Cicon (@JaredCicon) in which he....well watch and find out! It's very funny!

And then...another fan vid, but this time for IFightDragons
My good friend, Dani (@maxsummers), is a dab hand at editing and she has created a fan video for the new Internet sensations IFightDragons (@IFightDragons, naturally enough!). Their brand of guitar-based greatness that is "Heads up, Hearts down" has been wonderfully animated. Enjoy!

And finally - a podcast! Or two....
I'm sure you're already subscribed to the 'Knights of The Guild' podcast (if not - why not?). They have interviews, news and the inside track on all the cast and crew of The Guild. Another great feature is that they interview fans - and I'm going to be interviewed for the next show! I'm really pleased to have been asked and I'm really looking forward to it - thank you for asking me :)

Or two...
And I have some news. Yes, I've not been blogging here much. This is a temporary hiatus because I've been even more super-busy than normal, and I have an announcement. Next Monday I'll be launching  a podcast of my own! Whooo! Seriously - I'm so stoked about this. I've been vigorously editing my book, 'Turning Left at Albuquerque'. I had toyed with the idea of podcasting like Scott Sigler and Sethharwood and all the other great podcaster/writers. So, you'll be able to hear the first five chapters over the next 5 weeks, with an omnibus at the end. The feedback we've had so far has been really good and I hope you'll enjoy it. I've put up a promo on the podcast website. Expect more content there soon! But I wanted to share it (couldn't keep a lid on it anymore!) with you now. So then....Comments? Questions?

BookEnds, LLC: Writing Sex

BookEnds, LLC — A Literary Agency: Writing Sex

I've been doing intensive research over the last few weeks in preparation for submitting my novel to literary agents. There are some fantastically useful blogs out there bursting with information for writers.

This particular post talks about where to draw the line (if at all) when you are writing about sex. Given the intense interest (or, at least the Google-ability) of my post 'Writing, Erotic Fiction and Zoe Winters' I thought this would be of interest!

And no, it hasn't meant I've needed to edit the naughty bits out :)

'Browncoats: Redemption' Interview with Michael Dougherty on Pink Raygun

The new fan-made film is taking shape
When I first heard about the new film set in the Firefly/Serenity 'Verse it seemed too good to be true - the sort of brilliant idea that would never happen. But now filming is coming to an end and that brilliant idea is coming to life more spectacularly than I could ever have imagined. One of the creators, Michael Dougherty, was kind enough to take time out of his incredibly busy schedule to do an interview with me which is published today over at Pink Raygun. He talks about the inspiration to make the film, the challenges and how all the profits will go to charity. There should be more to come soon...

Exciting news!
This is my first article in Pink Raygun and working with Lisa Fary and John Dallaire is a real buzz. They have built up PRG into a fantastic resource for all fangirls (and yes, fanboys) with news, articles and reviews about all the shows, films and comics that matter. This is their new venture:

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Local comic creators, Lisa Fary and John Dallaire, will be at Geno’s Steaks in South Philadelphia fundraising for the Fraternal Order of Police survivors fund.

The pair’s latest comic effort, Intergalactic Law: Grey Squad is on Zuda, DC Comics’ online competition, through April 30th. The winner is selected via reader votes over the course of the competition. For every vote and comment that Grey Squad earns, Fary and Dallaire are donating twenty-five cents to the Philadelphia police survivors fund, with a goal of $1000.

(from the 'Grey Squad' website)

If you want to show your support:
  • Go and read Grey Squad on Zuda
  • Click the “Vote” button to the right of the comic. The red box will turn green when you’ve voted. Click a star rating right under the “Vote” button. Click “Add to Favorites” at the bottom of the voting block.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and leave a comment. Say you voted for Grey Squad.
More exciting news!
It's been a week and a half in the fandom with double-Joss at the Paley on the Dr Horrible and Dollhouse panels, and as the reports come in I'll post about them. In the meantime @Tabz has posted her report over at Joss'd and it's full of lovely details and brilliant pictures from @danregal. And - did you know Felicia Day persuaded Nathan Fillion to join Twitter after the Dr Horrible panel? Yes, it's really him!

And not least...
I'm still working on finding an agent and publisher for my novel. This is a lengthy process. To keep me going I've been working on alternative ways to promote the book and I'll be making an announcement about that over the weekend. I think you'll like it. I hope you do!

The Guild Season 2 DVD: Pre-order now!

Don't fret - Felicia and Kim have delegated at last!
Last summer, after The Guild Season 1 swept up awards and garnered praise and fans in vast amounts, thoughts turned to a DVD release. Amazingly as it might seem, all the posting, shipping and handling for the Season 1 DVDs was done by Felicia, Kim Evey and anyone else Felicia could rope into helping. This was a massive undertaking and Felicia posted an impassioned blog entry about the horrors of businessing (yes, it must be a proper word - Felicia used it!).

This year, Amazon.com is taking the strain
But there is no need to worry about Felicia and the Post Office 'assistant' this year because all the orders are being handled by Amazon.com. Season 2 is available for pre-order with a release date of 19th May. There is also a special offer on at the moment:

Amazon Exclusive DVD + Digital Bundle
Pre-order The Guild - Season Two from Amazon.com and watch it for free on release day from Amazon Video On Demand. Here's how (restrictions apply). And find out how it all started: pre-order your copy of The Guild - Season One today.

You can also order Season 1 - well worth it to see how it all began!

Amazon.com Associate
You might notice that there is a new widget at the side of my blog today - one advertising The Guild Season 2 DVD as an Amazon Associate. I took the plunge to do this just to see how it might work out. The returns are small (especially as my bank is not in the US!) so this is an experiment. If you click on it an purchase during that 'session' I get 4% back as a voucher for Amazon.com.

Win Signed Photo of The Guild - and Support Kids Need to Read

Talk about a Win-Win!
There's a new auction up on the Kids Need to Read website today, and you could win a signed photo of the award-winning webseries The Guild featuring the all six cast members and their signatures: Felicia Day (Codex), Sandeep Parikh (Zaboo), Vincent Caso (Bladezz), Amy Okuda (Tink), Jeff Lewis (Vork) and Robin Thorsen (Clara). You can bid for this item on eBay now!

About The Guild
The Guild webseries follows a group of online gamers and who meet in real life - with hilarious and sometimes heart-aching results - has won many awards, most recently three Streamy Awards. The Streamy Awards celebrate the best in Web Television and the live feed was a huge success - I blogged about it last week. The Guild is written by and starring the gorgeous and versatile Felicia Day, whom Joss Whedon has credited as his mentor for getting Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog webseries off the ground. And yes, Felicia starred as Penny in Dr Horrible, too.

About Kids Need To Read
KNTR is a literacy foundation set up my award-winning author P J Haarsma (The Softwire books and creator of the Dr Horrible Remote) and actor Nathan Fillion (Captain Hammer in Dr Horrible, Mal in Firefly & Serenity and currently starring as Castle in, er, Castle!).
