Reviewing "Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me" by Megan Lynch

UPDATE!
From now until September 8th 2010 YOU decide what to pay for the album - here's all the details! Please be generous :)

Where to start?
I've been friends with Megan for some time now. We met online through a shared love of Whedon and The Guild and we chat regularly. When Megan started talking about an album she was putting together I was really interested. Having recorded my fair share of music and put together a couple of albums I had an idea of how hard it is to organise - never mind actually perform - when you have limited resources and time. The result of all her work, though, bears testament to determination and sheer talent - and what talent.

A Smorgabord of awesome
"Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me" runs through a range of styles and Megan does each justice, and more. From the bluesy, woozy vocals in "Blues in the Night" where you can feel the humidity, to the touching harmonies of "It Can't Be Wrong" and the sultriness of "Blues in The Night", the emotion and musicality shines through. It goes without saying that the musicians play a very important in the success of the music, too, and there are some excellent performances.

Listening to the album really takes me away from the here and now.

When I was talking about it to hubby I told him that in places it reminded me of Bladerunner. At one stage I had the Vangelis soundtrack to Bladerunner and I played it over and over - not because I really like synthesisers (which I don't particularly), but because I loved the fusion of old and new. "One More Kiss, Dear" was my favourite and I'd love to hear Megan do a version (hint, hint!). And it's that feeling of old and new that I particularly enjoy in "Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me". Many of the songs are familiar to me but I've not heard them performed in this way before. There is an intimacy about the performances that really evoke a response as if they were live. That and the sheer joy of listening to someone revelling in their talent - Megan has an amazing voice which she uses to great effect - makes it hard to not be moved.

What sort of music is it?
If you have no concept of what music the Warners Brothers might have taught anyone, think of old-school cartoons like the Merrie Melodies "One Froggy Evening" or better yet - go to meganlynch.bandcamp.com and listen to the album. You can buy it from there or from iTunes, or CD Baby. I highly recommend you checking it out. It's probably not something that you've heard before and you just might love it as much as I do. Happy holidays!

All the Guild Sells Out videos!

Stop the Presses!

No sooner had I published the last post when I realised all the 'Guild Sells Out" videos are live RIGHT NOW!

So, without further stopping for screen grabs, here they are:

The Guild Sells Out!

I saw it on the Internet so it must be true...

Good news everyone! Felicia and co have contrived to stave off Guild Deficiency Syndrome over the holidays by producing a new mini-vid:

Er....who sold what now?

Internet comments can hurt, people! Think before you

Click a Toy - coming soon!

Judging from the frantic clicking being heard all over YouTubeland at the moment, people are desperate to find out what the awesome loot is:

The links aren't active yet, and since this first video is called "The Guild Sell Out! Intro" I think we can safely assume there is more holiday goodness to come.

EDIT:
The links ARE active! Maybe the massive demand for Guild merchandise overwhelmed the YouTube servers, but all the links work. And I've posted links to all the other vids here if you have any difficulties!

To make sure you find out about the next video as quickly as possible you should:

Follow The Guild on Twitter: @theguild
Follow Felicia Day on Twitter: @feliciaday
Subscribe to WatchTheGuild channel on YouTube: WatchTheGuild

And don't forget you can but the Season 1 and 2 DVD in all good stores and from Amazon and tee shirts from Jinx!

Questions for Kim Evey, plus The Guild: Now what?

(Kim Evey, being awesome.)

Last chance for Questions for Kim
I've had some great questions so far, and you have until tomorrow to get any other questions you might like to ask Ms Evey. There are so many things to find out - how did she first meet Wil Wheaton? How is her ankle these days? Is there any chance of GTCMS coming out on DVD....??? Not to mention questions about The Guild!

And speaking of The Guild...
After reviewing all episodes of Season 3 of The Guild on PinkRaygun.com I am still amazed at how much Felicia Day managed to pack into 12 Episodes. In these long, Guild Deficiency Syndrome weeks as we wait for news of Season 4 and the new comic - what's a fan to do? You can hang out with other fans on http://community.watchtheguild.com (and join the GDS group!). And, of course, there is always the Knights of The Guild podcast which is, as ever, still giving us all the latest information, reviews and gossip about The Guild and everyone connected to it. Thank you Kenny and Jenni!

EDIT:
Thanks to @tonewaugh who suggested I list where you can send the questions (yes, very good idea!):

  • Email me: worldofhiglet at gmail dot com
  • Post a question in the comments section, below (you don't need to register but comments are moderated so might take a little time to appear)
  • Post a question on community.watchtheguild.com
  • Tweet me a question on Twitter

Reviewing "The Untamed", Stunning New Fantasy from Stranger Comics

Meeting "The Untamed".
When I had the chance to read "The Untamed" I jumped at the opportunity. This new comic, released by Stranger Comics, is out on Dec 2nd 2009 and is well worth checking out. "The Untamed" is written by Sebastian A. Jones and opens with a hauntingly black and white scene of a shrouded ferryman taking a figure through flooded vaulted caves to...Oasis. The story follows a man who returns to his old town with seven days to reap seven souls and thus free himself from hell. But when he meets a girl who reminds him of his murdered daughter his mission becomes blurred and choices have to be made.

"The Untamed" is beautifully drawn by Peter Berting, who has worked on films such as "Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows". The artwork is arresting (the colour progression in the first few pages is a treat in itself) and the marriage of the words and pictures works perfectly. The story unfolds quickly, but is not hurried. Rather, it feels like measured footsteps taking you towards an unknown doom.

There is an animated preview to whet your appetite:

Haunting, isn't it?

High Praise from Hollywood
There have already been some rave reviews from the great and the good:

"THE UNTAMED promises to be an epic tale, conceived and crafted not only with a great love of comics, but also a profound understanding of the power of visionary storytelling.
Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Candyman)

“What’s not to love about Jones and Bertging’s THE UNTAMED: it’s a Sergio Leone, Frank Frazetta, William Blake fever dream mash-up. And that’s just where it begins.”
Lloyd Levin (Watchmen, Hellboy, Boogie Nights)

When was the last time you read a comic?
As a kid I looked forward to Saturday for two reasons. One: no school and good TV in the morning (TISWAS FTW!). Two: Comics! They were delivered with the Saturday paper and it was always a rush to get to the door first when they were put through the slot. At first it was Whizzer and Chips, Monster Fun and Battle Picture Weekly (my younger brother, mine and older brother's respectively). After Monster Fun tragically merged up with Buster I looked around for a replacement and then along came 2000 AD. Oh. My. Word.

For Tharg's Sake
The post-apocalyptic landscape of 2000 AD was mind-expanding. I knew that in the future (2000 was so far away!) that we would all be living on Moonbase Alpha and having eyebrow issues, but 2000 AD was a completely different type of future. Gritty, unforgiving and....exciting. Of course, that was many, many moons ago and the last comic I read was actually "Serenity: Better Days". I absolutely loved it on many levels and it did pique my interest in comics again.

"The Untamed" looks like is going to be a wonderful new series, and is hopefully the start of a many more stories in the Asunda world.

You can find out more here: StrangerComics.com, on Facebook and on Twitter

A give-away this week!
As a special post-Thanksgiving, Pre-Christmas treat, I will have a copy of "The Untamed" to give away later this week. Stay tuned!

Sean Becker Interview out! Plus questioning Kim Evey...

The truth is out there...
Yes, Sean Becker, the Emmy Award-winning Director of Seasons 2 and 3 of The Guild, gives us the low-down on The Guild, Film School and so much more...!

  • Thrill as you hear how Kim Evey and Greg Benson drew the impressionable young film-school hopeful into the seedy world of web videos
  • Gasp at Sean's description of his drunken exploits at Comic Con 2009 with Con-Quest
  • Pass-out as Sean tells how he begged Felicia to tone down the scenes between Zaboo and Riley

For more details head over to PinkRaygun.com for video descriptions for all three parts of this stunning tell-all expose* of The Guild and all things Sean!

And don't forget - Episode 12 of Season 3 is out tomorrow - it's going to be a heart-stopping finale!

...and speaking of Kim Evey - your questions please!

The wonderful Kim Evey has agreed to do an email interview so I'm taking questions now! Have you ever wondered how she managed to get all those wonderful guests on Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show, or how many times Felicia has turned up on set swearing and violent? If you have any burning question please add a comment here and I'll send as many as I can off to Ms Evey.

* When I say expose, I mean you'll learn a lot more about The Guild and Sean Becker, not that there will be any other sort of....exposing.

The Guild S3 Ep11 and Interview news

Only 1 more Episode to go!

I've done a review of Ep 11 on PinkRaygun.com. So much has happened in Season 3 that it's worth looking back on how far each of the characters have. Next week is set to be an explosive end to the season!

Sean Becker bares all!

In an in depth interview last week, I had the pleasure of of probing Sean deeply about his work with The Guild and beyond. I'm putting the finishing touches to the edits but the videos will be available shortly and are well worth a look.

Thanks to Sean for a good laugh :)

More Interviews!!!

And that's not all. Exciting news as upcoming interviews delightful people from The Guild will now include:
  • Kim Evey (Producer)
  • Robin Thorsen (who plays Clara)
  • Michele Boyd (who plays Riley)

If you have any questions please let me know!

And my interview with the lovely Jenni Powell will be out next week!

The Guild S3 Ep10 PLUS Sean Becker under the spotlight! Questions please....

Awesome upon Awesome!
So, we're now on Episode 10 of Season 3 and.....*faints* Well I don't know about you, but this Season is taking so many twists and turns that I never know what's going to happen next! I've reviewed Ep 10 over on PinkRaygun.com and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Felicia has said this is her favourite episode and she has written about Ep 9 & 10 plus her recent actoring over on her blog.

Excitement abounds!
And the awesome continues because tomorrow I'm going to be video interviewing Director/Editor Mr Sean Becker from a totally secret location! You will remember Sean from such blog posts as 'Who is Sean Becker?' , 'Sean Becker Speaks out...' and 'Felicia Day: Evil Warder or Trouble Genius?' and so I'm sure you will have lots of questions for him. As have I! So if you want to me to ask your question please comment below and I'll try to get through as many as possible. I can't wait...

Who watches The Guild? A new poll - it's scientifical!!!!*

Blogger has Polls!

(Vork is amazed at the crassness of this poll, too. Sorry.)

And what better way than to celebrate than to start a poll about who watches The Guild? I bet, like me, you've often wondered** about the demographics for The Guild so here's your chance to take part in this totally scientific survey.

Thank you for your participation!

* By science, I mean social science. I think you know what I mean by that.
**I have actually often wondered about this. If you think that that makes me sad then...you're probably right! But please do the poll anyway :)

The week in review: The Guild, Halloween, Legend of Neil, Dr Horrible...

(Clara shows her sweeter side in The Guild Halloween Special...Photo by Brian Kameoka, courtesy of Knights of Good)

Yeah, technically this covers more than a week...!
Did you ever notice how, as soon as you decide to do one thing, 3 gazillion other things pop up and demand your attention? So, in the spirit of getting things done, here are all the blog posts I would have done in the last few days if I had had the time. You're welcome! :)

So, in reverse chronological order:

The Guild Halloween Special
Released on 27th October this is a wonderfully playful romp with The Guild cast as they quest for loot IRL. Written by Kim Evey and directed by Greg Benson, it's great to see the gang reunit'd-ish.

The Dr Horrible and Guild Second Annual Halloween Screening
Whedonopolis once again hosted a sing-along screening of Dr Horrible and this year showed Season 2 of The Guild. It was a star-studded event with fun galore and money being raised for Kids Need to Read.

Here's some highlights from watchtheguild's YouTube:

Felicia Day uses Halloween as a way to traumatise my daughter
Felicia has a tradition of shopping for her Halloween outfits in kid's clothing section at 4:00 on Halloween (it must be true - she tweeted it!). As you digest how many things are wrong with that, feast your eyes on this year's abomination:

The Horror!!!

My little girl was not at all amused by Ms Day's antics, as you can see:

The Guild S3 Ep9: Wit's End
Season 3 is ratcheting up the tension with MOAR TRAUMA as The Guild self-destructs. I reviewed it on PinkRaygun.com and people are of the opinion that things may have reached turning point. So.Much.Goodness!

Director Sean Becker agrees, and he commented on Facebook "...I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of the final 3 eps, they are a lot of fun!" I can't wait!

The Guild on Amazon.com's DVD recommended list
The Guild DVD makes #68 on the list, only 2 behind Nathan Fillion's 'Castle'! This is an amazing feat for a webseries - well done everyone!

Legend of Neil Needs You!
We love this webseries, right? LoN is a guilty pleasure (NSFW but soooo funny) and we need to make sure that they make a Season 3. So help Sandeep and Tony out and read how you can help - it only takes a minute!

Knights of The Guild Live Broadcast
I totally missed this because of hockey-mum duties, but KOTG had their first live broadcast last night and despite a few technical hiccups it went really well. Kenny has blogged about it and I can't wait to see it!

NaNoWriMo
I am so far behind at this stage it's a bit scary, but there are good reasons why (including being sick, kids being sick and - YAY! - more interest in my non-fiction project). To all those Nano-ers who are struggling keep in mind that you can make up the ground. I've got a long way to go but there is time to catch up - wish us all luck!

NaNoWri - Wut? It's that time again, writerly folks!

NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month

Yesterday heralded the holt-anticipated start of NaNoWriMo - where otherwise level-headed folk attempt to do the impossible task of writing a novel in a month. Yes, that's right - in the space of 30 days thousands of people will be pounding their keyboards and scribbling in notebooks in order to reach the goal of 50, 000 words. And that is a short novel. In a month.

WHY?

Because! On the NaNo site there is a list of FAQs and this is near the top. I love the answers they give - because the deadline makes you do it, because so many people are striving together to achieve the same thing, because it lets you stamp down that internal critic that insists you make it perfect before you write it...

Are you NaNoWriMoing?

If you are let me know and we can be writing buddies. You can find my NaNo page here, and I'm hoping to work out how to get the word count widget to work so you can check out my awesome progress. So many things are happening with my writing at the moment it's a really exciting time - now I'd better get back and do some more!

Stargate: Universe - Too much is never enough, plus writerly news

(Ming-Na and Jamil Walker Smith at the Stargate: Universe Q&A on the Syfy.com press tour)

Do you have a spare few minutes?
Then you might be interested in my account of the recent Syfy.com press tour, Part 2 - the Stargate: Universe set tour, now up on PinkRaygun.com. It was a heady day and, in my wish to share the whole experience, the article is long. But totally worth it if you've been wondering what the heck we got up to that day. And better yet, there's still my reports from the Caprica, Sanctuary and Alice sets still to come. Admit it - you're excited! :)

More reports?
I was at the Surrey International Writer's Conference 2009 (SiWC2009) last week. Wow - it was intense! I've done the first of those reports on my writer's blog. I've never been to a writer's conference before and I was totally unprepared for it - but in a good way. I never imagined it was going to be half as good as it was. If you are a writer, or hope to be one, I can highly recommend it.

Turning Left at Albuquerque
And don't forget that the audiobook podcast of 'Turning Left at Albuquerque' is continuing on turningleft.podbean.com. We're now up to Omnibus 17. Last week I posted a poll where you can vote on who should play Jason and Andy in the film version. So far Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are out in front with no votes for Zaboo and Vork, or Bladezz and Wade. It's easy to vote, you don't even need to register, so why not have a pop?

The Guild Halloween Special - sneak pReak!

I told you there would be more news!

(Vork and Zaboo hard at work. Photo by Brian Kameoka, courtesy of Knights of Good)

When I mentioned The Guild Halloween Special in the last post, I was hoping to have something to show you, and luckily I found something! Full (sketchy!) details over at PinkRaygun.com. Ooh - it's going to be good!

The Guild S3 Ep 8 plus Halloween Special

"Run in a Z, Sweetie!"

My review of The Guild Season 3, Episode 8: +10 to Bravery, is up on PinkRaygun.com, so pop over there and leave a comment! Felicia Day has written up a storm this season, and this episode is jam-packed with awesome:

A Gag reel, too?

Yep, it's double-prizes again this week with a new Gag reel:

But there's more?!?

There is a rumour afoot of a fiendish new episode, the likes of which has never before been seen. Something so hideous, so malevolent that...er...well...scary and stuff. Or not. Who knows? Well Greg Benson, for one. And some other people.

What in the Sam Hill are you talking about?

Don't you love it when I refer to myself in the second person? And ask myself questions? Yes, I know. It's awesome.

I'm waiting.....

What? Oh! You wanted to know about The Guild Halloween Special that's due out soon? Well.....you'll just have to wait a bit longer. Sorry. But....I'll have a bit more to tell you VERY SOON!

The Guild updates and stuff

The Guild Season 3, Ep 7 is live!
...And so is my review on PinkRaygun.com. I'm really enjoying doing these reviews but I've been getting some mixed feedback. While everyone has liked the fact I'm doing the reviews some people want to see more discussion/analysis while others like the detailed recapping. So, what do you think? Keeping in mind that I can't make the reviews any longer, what parts do you like best? Or are they perfect just as they are?

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&amp;from=sp&amp;vid=ad9da3c0-f956-4a84-91a0-29281cc13c51" target="_new" title="Season 3 - Episode 7: Coping and Stuff">Video: Season 3 - Episode 7: Coping and Stuff</a>

Why am I asking, anyway?
I've been doing my thing here for a while. Posting here, on PinkRaygun.com, Whedonage.comhttp://www.whedonage.com/, updating my audiobook podcasts (mostly) every week, blogging occasionally on my writer's website, plus Twitter, Friendfeed and other places. Mostly because I really enjoy writing and sharing things I find. I'm also trying to find a way to balance what I want to do with making writing my career. Finding an agent, sending out queries, blogging and yes, actually doing some writing all takes time. I'm trying to work out how the best way to divide my time. That, in itself, is a work in progress.

The Guild S3 Ep 6, Syfy.com and Legend of Neil gets dirty. Dirtier. Well, you know....

Another packed week!
I spent an eventful and awesome day in Vancouver on the Syfy.com press tour, visiting sets and Q&A panels for Stargate: Universe, Caprica, Sanctuary and Alice (a new mini-series airing on Dec 6th and 7th). I was there to report for PinkRaygun.com and I'll be doing my reviews there over the next few days. I met some great people and Syfy really pushed the boat out to make it an enjoyable experience. Stargate: Universe continues at 9/8c and Sanctuary S2 is starting tonight 10/9c.

The Guild S3 Ep 6 - Newbtastic
While I was rubbing shoulders with the Syfy stars, new episode of LoN and The Guild were released. My review for 'Newbtastic' is up at PinkRaygun.com. This episode was full of surprises and lots of Laugh Out Loud bits. Plus...well watch the ep and read the review! Felicia Day has also blogged about this episode and how much the writing evolved for the whole of Season 3.

Legend of Neil S2 Ep06 - The Fairy Strikes Back

Whose back the dirty fairy (played with relish by Felicia Day) strikes back at you'll have to watch to find out. Oh yes, and it's as Not Suitable For Work as it's always been :) This season has been so much fun it's sad to think there is only one more episode after this. Let's hope Comedy Central renew for Season 3!

Joss was ahead of his time...Serenityday and Google Waves!

[Edit: This is already been discussed on Whedonesque (in May) and the feeling is that yes, Google is full of Firefly fans. Shiny! - thanks to Dani for the link)]

We all knew Joss was a visionary
But this is different - this is....technology!!! More proof that art imitates life imitating art (or something) has been occurring all over my interwebs yesterday and today, and probably yours, too. But you don't need to take my word for it - Google Wave made the front page of slashdot and my good friend, Louis Gray gave his first impressions on his blog (interesting but noisy. Google wave, not Louis. Although....) So, what's the the hubbub about? Louis explains:

"...Google released a waterfall of 100,000 invites to the Google Wave preview over the last day or so, giving bleeding-edge early adopter and information addicts a new playground to exchange conversations in real time..."

Er, so what?
Yes, good question! It's okay, I am not about to launch a new techblog - the market is pretty much tapped and I prefer to read what other, more thrusting people, have to say. No, the interesting thing for me is that this is real-time communication over a network and it's called a wave. Any Browncoat will tell you this is only a (webcam) step away from that envisioned by Joss in the Firefly/Serenity 'Verse. Which means nothing, of course, because most people could predict that at that stage in our future such technology would exist. And the fact that Google released it on and around Serenityday (Serenity was released in US cinemas on September 30th, 2005) is a pure coincidence. Unless Google is inhabited by Browncoats...What? Nerds loving Joss Whedon?? What are the odds....

But - a wave? Seriously?
That doesn't stop me from smirking to myself over the choice of terminology, though, particularly because Joss is such is technophobe that he will likely never know about it, or even care if he did. It isn't ironic, but it made me smile. We all remember he recent comment on Whedonesque where he exhorted people to buy 'Date my Avatar' and spread the word:

"And I'm hobbled here, peeps. I don't twitter (I occasionally Glitter and Be Gay, but that's it), can't digg, or favorite, or friend... In fact I don't understand why my typewriter has a TV on it. I'M NOT SAVVY."

All this gives me a great opportunity to post a clip from Serenity. And I would have done that if I could have found a decent one (like Mal/Inara and the trap), but my YouTube foo gave up on me. But you know the drill. Can't stop the Signal. Just pop in the DVD instead and enjoy. Meet you on the Cortex.

And perhaps watch this video from Browncoats: Redemption, too. Yes! Our first glimpse of the crew!

New Guild Episode, Felicia Day on Jimmy Fallon and Retail Guild Competition!

*cough* I'm  not well...

But that can't stop the show, so let's get on! First off, my review of The Guild Season 3, Episode 5 will be up soon on PinkRaygun.com so please head over there and join in the discussion! Another great episode and so many more questions to answer...

Jimmy Fallon is Felicia'd - again!
Felicia Day is on the 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' show tonight on NBC. It's showing at 12:35 AM Pacific here in West Coast Canada, so check when it's available where you are. Felicia has met Jimmy before and (tried to) help him with World of Warcraft:

It's going to be exciting to see Felicia on TV again!

EDIT: the interview has been added to Jimmy Fallon's website:

New Guild Competition - but hurry!

At 12 midnight (Pacific) the newest Guild competition ends. And what do you need to do for that? Simple. The new Guild DVD is now available in retail stores and everyone who posts a pic of them posing with a picture of the new DVD can enter the competition (see WatchtheGuild.com for full details of how to enter). And to make it fair that also includes those who have ordered the new one from Amazon, too.

The Guild S3, Ep 4, Michele Boyd (Riley) interview and LoN!

'Get it Back' is live!

(Wil Wheaton as Faulks in The Guild, Season 3)

The Guild Season 3 continues with another corking episode:

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&amp;from=sp&amp;vid=2db36212-baaf-4fe6-9cc5-cdefe4b27f40" target="_new" title="Season 3 - Episode 4: Get it back!">Video: Season 3 - Episode 4: Get it back!</a>

My weekly PinkRaygun.com Review is also up now, too, so check that out for a full review of the episode.  And as a special bonus for fans The Guild have released a gag reel for epsiodes 1-4:

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&amp;from=sp&amp;vid=2408c4d7-0526-464d-bb55-aee3c0543077" target="_new" title="Season 3 - Gag Reel: Episodes 1-4">Video: Season 3 - Gag Reel: Episodes 1-4</a>

Stand out moments from the gag reel are 'Wil versus the Flying Beetle of Death' and the 'beating the sun' tent moving - although the whole reel is hilarious.

Upcoming Interviews - next up Michele Boyd!

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jenni Powell this week and I will edit this video asap. We talked about all sorts of things and I asked Jenni all the questions I was sent, too. Well, almost all. There was one I left out (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!).

Early next week I will be doing an audio interview with Michele Boyd, who plays Riley (Stupid Tall Hot Girl), currently Zaboo's girlfriend in The Guild. Last week there was a big debate about Zaboo and Riley's seemingly-abusive relationship on PinkRaygun and I hope we can find out more about that plus the other exciting work Michele has been doing. As before, I welcome YOUR questions for Michele - what would you like to know? Michele is on Twitter and has her own website, too. I can't wait to talk to her!

Legend of Neil S2 Ep 5

In another hugely NSFW but bustingly funny episode from the LoN team, we see the gentlre side of Moblins. Up to a point. Or three. I have tried to embed the video but Blogger doesn't like the code - even though it plays in Preview mode. Silly Blogger...So I'm afraid you will have to content yourself with the Link, instead. TWSS.

Interviewing Jenni, KOTG and Dr Horrible makes a move

(The Knights of The Guild podcast - with Jenni and Kenny!)

The tables are turned!
In a couple of days I'll be interviewing the lovely Jenni Powell for PinkRaygun.com. Jenni's dulcet tones can be heard on the Knights of The Guild (KOTG) podcasts where she co-hosts with Kenny, and you might also know her as the Key Production Assistant on The Guild. We'll be chatting about The Guild, the KOTG podcasts and delving deep into the inner recesses of Jenni's brainbox. Probably. Although, to the untrained ear it might sound like lots of laughing. Ms Powell has been involved with many webseries over the years and recently had stints on the sets of Legend of Neil and The Guild as an extra. Which leads me to the next thing. Do you have a burning question for Jenni? I've already had some from people on the watchtheguild forums so if you have any more leave a comment here and I'll do my best to get an answer for you!

Listen to The Guild fans on the lastest KOTG podcast
The Guild has always been about the fans and the lastest KOTG Microcast #8 Quest for Skype features a Skype conversation with a group of Guildies:
Belrand

Yay! It was a really fun time on Skype and there are plans to do more in the future so email Knightsoftheguild@gmail.com if you want to know more.

Dr Horrible in the news!
Yes, fresh on the heels of Dr Horrible receiving an Emmy last week comes confirmation that Joss is indeed planning a Dr Horrible 2. And the good Doctor himself (or Jed, anyway) has been dropping some hints recently as picked up by DrHorrible.net. And today, Maurissa tweeted this:

Hmmm. Coupled with the fact that the host for tomorrow's Emmys is none other than Neil Patrick Harris, it's probably worth tuning in. I wonder what is going to happen...

And in case you missed it, here's Joss' acceptance speech from the Emmys:

And with Dollhouse Season 2 premiering on Friday 25th September these are exciting times in the Jossverse!

The Guild S3, Ep 3 - Man Down, plus *more* KOTG!

Shocking action this week!

If you haven't seen the latest episode in the new Season of The Guild you can watch here:

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-US&amp;from=sp&amp;vid=80a029bc-7a7a-4f6e-b63c-8c4e73975e20" target="_new" title="Season 3 - Episode 3: Player Down">Video: Season 3 - Episode 3: Player Down</a>

I have done another review over at PinkRaygun.com and there is a lively discussion going on over there about what happened and what might happen next. I'd love to hear what you thought. I enjoyed the episode but my reaction to some of the scenes has surprised me. And I think that's a good thing. It's heartening to know that there are still lots of thrills, spills and surprises left!

Knights of The Guild
Kenny and Jenny are cranking out the podcasts with the Episode 8 part 1 released yesterday! Another slice of behind-the-scenes goodness from The Guild trenches, with peaks into Season 3 and a great interview with crew member Jay. And there's so much more to come! You can subscribe to KOTG in iTunes (or other podcatcher) which means you won't miss out on any of the action. Or you can listen to all of the shows at knightsoftheguild.com.

Turning Left at Albuquerque
Ah yes. No audiobook omnibus this week due to timing problems, BUT I did put up a poll which has had some interesting answers. What do you think?

Linkage love: Legend of Neil, The Guild and KOTG

Too many things all at once!
Yes, I know I was the one complaining about Guild Deficiency Syndrome and opining that there weren't enough good things to see and hear and now I'm complaining there's too much! Go figure. Comic Con, Date My Avatar, Season 3, Dragon*Con, BlizzCon, PAX....if that wasn't a fistful of goodies we also have Knight of The Guild updates and Legend of Neil Season 2!

In time-honoured fashion, then, I present a list of linkage lovelies

Legend of Neil - Season 2, Episode 4

Another excellent episode - and great news for Sandeep Parikh and Tony Jannings is that Legend of Neil occupies 7 out of the 10 top videos on Atom.com at the moment, with S2 Ep 03 (The Musical) #1. I took a screen shot for posterity. (And bonus points if you can tell me where Kenny and Jenni are in this episode!)

The Guild, Season 3, Ep 02

My review of this episode is up on PinkRaygun.com and it would be great to see some feedback over there (hint, hint!). If you haven't seen it yet - feast your eyes (it's another brilliant episode!).

Knight of The Guild Podcast - Microcast #7 - the Quest for BlizzCon

Kenny and Jenni have been working their little behinds off creating so many KOTG podcasts to cover all the happenings over the last few weeks, and they have done a sterling job! You can listen to their indepth BlizzCon report, which includes interviews and some Q&As from the Panel over at knightsoftheguild.podbean.com. And thank you, Kenny, for including the promo for the audiobook podcast of my novel, Turning Left at Albuquerque!

There is lots more to come from PAX and Dragon*Con, so I'll keep you posted :)
